In Ward E, the mayor’s old ward and the vacated turf of Councilwoman Candace Osborne, who’s not running again, it’s truly the Wild Wild West. Jacob Hudnut is on Team Matsikoudis...It’s honestly anyone’s game there at this point, a source told InsiderNJ. Fulop will stay out until the run off.

Candidate Hudnut, a 34-year-old attorney, worked with Mayor Fulop on a 2013 school board campaign but is now running with Fulop rival Bill Matsikoudis. Asked how Fulop lived up to his promise to reform city government, Hudnut said, "zero on a score of one to 100." The Jersey City Reporter's Al Sullivan notes that "Hudnut's appeal has the potential to send the Ward E election into a runoff later this year because votes for the Fulop ticket appear to be split between the three other candidates. Hudnut served as Jersey City public defender in the past, but may also have progressive appeal since he supported candidates backed by Parents for Progress."

"Then there is mayoral hopeful Bill Matsikoudis' Ward E running mate, openly gay attorney Jake Hudnut who had served as a city public defender and has worked on school board races, which these days is like training for pit fighting. Hudnut claims Fulop was missing for three years campaigning for governor and wants to go after the Port Authority to improve PATH service, just several issues that have been mentioned."
